Injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents can be very debilitating and lifelong if not treated. The government will fund treatments if you are seen within 10 days of the date of the accident. We work hard to return the patients to pre-accident status. And will be the injured patients advocate to find there way through the protocols that are available to them.
Sports Injuries
Sports injuries whether in a competitive or recreational setting should be checked to ensure full recovery of motion, strength, balance and function. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that it is all part of the game because most of of patients are being seen later in life due to not having addressed injuries earlier in their lives.
TMJ and Headaches
If you clench your teeth and get headaches we can help train you to stop clenching, even at night, and help you identify the source or sources of your headaches. Headaches can arise from many different factors and some are muscle and joint related and some are not. It is hard to identify this sometimes as a patient but as physios we are trained to differentiate the causes.
Back and Neck Pain
Acute or chronic neck and back pain are not just something you have to live with. We can teach you how to balance the muscles around your spine and recover normal pain free range of motion with exercises, traction, mobilization, ultrasound, needling and education. Don’t let your back pain run your life and keep you from travelling when you retire.
Chronic Pain
Chronic pain means pain that never goes away. It may worsen or lessen but is always there. The brain changes once a pain remains for longer than about three months. We can help you along with a multidisciplinary team to help control your pain levels and try to get back to a higher level of function without increasing your levels of pain.
Manual Therapy
We are trained to test the normal glides and motions of every joint in the body. Using our hands, we try to recover the lost movement and then give you exercises to maintain this motion. We also use manipulation to recover motion in a joint that is subluxed or slightly out of its normal position.
Sprains and Strains
A sprain means a ligament that holds two bones together has been irritated or stretched. A strain means a muscle has been irritated or stretched to far. We help guide these tissues through healing and recover normal range of motion and strength around that joint.
Post Surgical
We treat many different surgeries including joint replacements, to arthroscopic knee surgeries, to lower back or neck discectomies or fusions and so on. Sometimes people need very little rehab after surgery and sometime they need intensive rehab. Post reconstructive knee ligament surgeries extensive therapy is optimal.
Fractures
Fractures/breaks in bones heal themselves but the soft tissues around the bones are usually injured too and these often need therapy to recover fully even as a child.
